A painful infection which is accompanied by cold sore or fever blisters is known as herpes simplex. Usually it is caused by virus and transmitted by contact with the fluids body like saliva, tears, sweat etc, especially in the presence of herpes. Like this genital herpes is transmitted by sexual contact when no preventive measures like condoms or medicines is taken. The sign and symptoms of Herpes in order of appearance includes itching, tingling, red skin, blister, stinging and yellow scab which is found on tongue, eyelids, gums, tongue lips and cheeks.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus namely HSV 1 and HSV 2 which causes infection.

1. Cold sores around the mouth and the fever is caused by HSV1. Oral sex is responsible for this infection.

2. Small ulcers around the genital areas of women as well as men and painful blisters are caused by HSV2.

3. An infection of herpes is triggered by pregnancy, low immunity system, stress, hormonal imbalance.

4. Infection is spread by person to person by kissing and intimate contacts.

Herpes can be treated easily with the help of home remedies. Some of the popular home remedies -

1. Grate a carrot and wrap it in a cloth and apply this paste on the affected areas. It will reduce the pain and the swelling of the blisters.

2. To reduce the pain and the fever caused by herpes you can take peppermint tea as it is an effective remedy for herpes.

3. Frequent outbreaks due to herpes can be prevented by the application of lemon balm and thyme.

4. For the treatment of herpes take a cotton ball with baking powder and apply it on the affected area. This remedy is beneficial for the treatment of herpes.

5. Avoid the intake of smoking, sugar and drinking as it will damage the immune system.

6. Application of the ice on the infected areas curbs the disease to a great extent.

These home remedies are safe and effective.
